Singapore Airshow 2008

Today is the 2nd Day of Singapore Airshow 2008. I woke up at 8am and Mummy quickly proceeded to prepare for us to leave the house. However, Daddy was dilly dallying with his laptop, surfing online..so we only managed to leave the house after 930pm. But first, we made a stop at the petrol kiosk & load up on food (chicken pie/donut/sausage pie), mineral water & tibits before heading to Pasir Ris Bus Interchange for the free shuttle bus service to Changi Airshow exhibition site.

We decided to drive to a nearby HDB multi storey carpark to park our car & walk over. However, they were signs on the road indicating that the multi storey carparks near the interchange are all reserved for residents. But heck! It's a Sunday! How would anyone know if the parked cars belong to residents/visitors/airshow visitors?? Stupid right? Anyway, we still went ahead & parked our car in the multi storeay carpark lot.

When we reached Pasir Ris Bus interchange, the queue to the shuttle buses is already formed. It was so long that it snaked around the MRT station twice, then zigzag across the open field next to the MRT station more than 10 times before we can board the bus. The field has a lot of rough patches & stones so daddy & mummy have problems manouving the stroller.

Heck...why can't the organsier lay planks on the ground? Dun think it'll be very expensive to lay planks lor. I can also see the rest of the people with children & prams struggling to push through the rough terrain & withstanding the hot sun. The only consolation is that it's not raining. Haha..shudder to think of queuing under the rain, threading around muddy soil. By the time it's our turn to board the shuttle bus, it's already 11am.

Luckily I didn't fuss at all, not even under the hot sun. I was very cooperative & Mummy kept feeding me snacks/food & drinks to keep me occupied.

The organisers scheduled extra long Trans Island bus to ferry visitors to & fro between Pasir Ris and the Airshow site at 10mins interval. But still, it was very crowded & people had to stand up holding onto railings. Luckily Mummy managed to find a seat with me sitting on her lap.

There was major traffic jam along changi road so it took more than an hour to reach the destination when it normally takes about 15mins to reach. I slowly dozed off in Mummy's lap while listening to people around me chatting away on the bus.

When we were approaching the exhibition site, we encountered another jam on the road due to the towing of Airbus A380. While waiting, we saw lotsa people cycling/walking in from the main road under the scorching hot sun. Really pity them...

We reached the site at 12noon & headed straight for the aerial display area. The aerial display is going to start in 15mins. Everyone started running & dashes past the registration booth. Strangely enough, nobody checked for tickets at the entrance. Mummy was holding onto a piece of folded paper & they just waved us through. Hmm...seems like the organisers were not well prepared for the huge crowd. Everything was so messy.

Luckily we're just in time for the aerial display. SAF Black Knights didn't disappoint us. However it's too loud & I'm frightened by it. But I still wanna see what's going on...so I half screamed, half gawked at the aerial displays. The show also included other planes from SAAF & Airbus A380. The entire aerial display lasted for 1hr+ and by the time we leave the site, we're all sun burnt. Mummy had forgotten to bring umbrella & apply sunblock on me to shield the sun. My knees are all red from the burnt and she felt so guilty.

Next, we proceeded to the indoor exhibition area..but it's more for the trade partners, so we didn't linger around much. We wanted to catch a cab back to Pasir Ris but the queue was so long...so we decided to walk along the road & managed to hail a cab heading towards the exhibition site, by asking the cabby to u-turn back.

While on the way home in Daddy's car, I dozed off until I reached home & continue napping for 2hrs. It's a really tiring but eventful day!

Some pixs to share.
