Sharing the Joy - My 1st Mth Celebration

My 1st mth celebration was held on 13 August 2006 at Springdale. Mummy & daddy invited lotsa guests to share the joy. Other than immediate families, mummy & daddy also invited close friends, colleagues and ex-colleagues. Daddy's m'sian relatives also drove down specially to see me. Mummy said everyone is very curious about how I look like. Some commented that I dun like a chinese at all...hehe..mayb cos I'm very fair.
A slide show of me was also screened at the celebration...mummy made them during her confinement period.
I slept throughout the celebration even though I was passed around for people to carry & only woke up when everyone has left. Daddy said sleep is more important than anything else...2 thumbs up from ME!!

Bathing Time!

Although it is mummy's first time bathing me, but I felt really comfy & relax. Mummy says I'm a good gal cos I didn't fuss or cry at all!

My First Feed

I had my 1st feed at the hospital about 4hrs after I was borned. Auntie nurse brought me to mummy's ward & mummy quickly cuddle me into her warm arms. Mummy could not breastfeed me cos she had hyperthyroidism & the doctor advised her not to feed for fear tat the anti-thyroid medication will pass on to me. Anyway, formula milk taste yummy too!

HomeComing

Mummy & daddy spend lotsa time & effort to make sure my homecoming is as comfy as possible. This is the nursery room which I'll b spending most of my time in. Nice?
Mummy stenciled the walls with sunflowers, even though it's considered a taboo during pregnancy. Oh well, mummy is a modern woman & doesn't believe in myths.

Mummy & daddy decided to call me Kaylyn which means slender. Mummy feels that the name suits me cos I'm small for my gestation age. Luckily, I managed to catch up on most of my weight before I pop. Mummy is glad tat I'm not a premie & I dun have to stay in NICU.

I'm a healthy baby & passed all the tests. However, the doc found out tat I have hypothyroidism which was due to mummy's anti-thyroid medication. Mummy felt so GUILTY & am worried about affecting my mental development!! Luckily after retaking the test a few days later, my thyroid level has returned to normal. However, I still need to retake the blood test on my 1st birthday.

Arrival Of Kaylyn

At 2.40pm, I'm ready to come out, but the midwife is still not ready. The bed is still not setup & the labour equipments are still inside the cupboards. At 3.02pm later, Dr Kowa came into the delivery suite & started the labour. Mummy push ONCE & I'm finally OUT!!

I'm considered a 'clean' baby cos I don't have much blood on my body. Mayb due to the coconut drinks mummy took during the last few weeks. Dr Kowa put me into mummy's arms & I finally laid eyes on the person whom I've been living with for the past 9 mths. I immediately feel in LOVE with her!!

I weighed 2.9Kg and was cleaned & dressed before being presented to mummy & daddy again...

Life Begins

THE DAY has finally arrived. I was sleeping soundly when at 6.30am, I suddenly felt the warm & moist home which I was living for the past 9 mths getting colder & colder. I feel tat I can't swim anymore!! The waterbag has burst!!
However, mummy & daddy still take their own sweet time & even had time to make prata for breakfast before Ah Gong drive us to hospital during the early morning rush hour. Mummy worry about of dripping water & blood all over the car tat she brought a towel to sit on.
We reach hospital at 7.45am & mummy's cervix is already 1.5cm dilated. I can feel the pressure building up around me but mummy doesn't feel any pain. Wat a strong mummy!!However, she still go ahead with epidural cos she doesn't wanna regret later when it's too late.
Then it's waiting & waiting & more waiting while daddy reads the newspaper lying on the comfy massage chair. Soon, daddy is fast asleep. Mummy keeps herself busy by watching cable TV which is showing disasters documentary. The midwife comments mummy being weird, but mummy says it's interesting. I hope I'll become like mummy when I grow up too!

Despite being 7th month pregnant, mummy's tummy is still small... Lotsa aunties & uncles don't even know tat I'm already 7mths old. Sometimes, mummy even get mistaken of just being fat, rather than being pregnant.

Mummy's Pregnancy Journey

Mummy puts on 15kg while carrying me. Mummy also has to endure endless sleepless nights due to my love for performing acrobatics, particular late at night till wee hours in the morning. Dun worry mummy, u'll lose some of the extra weights immediately after I'm born. Especially when I'm crying for night feedings everyday..haha

Creation of Life

These are my ultrasound scans from 1st mth all the way to 9th mth. I grew from a little egg to a small fetus. Can u see my features from the scans?

I'm a naughty little gal cos I like to stay awake at night & perform mini-gymnastic in mummy's tummy. Doctor says I'm too small for my gestation age, so mummy has to eat more red meat & proteins to fatten me up. Yum..yum...My fav food is beef, eggs & satay...

I can hear mummy talking in this warm moist home of mine & I like the way it rocks whenever mummy moves. Always make me wanna fall asleep. Yawn...
